Founded by Tyree Hudson, a native New Yorker with a rich heritage rooted in a long line of Bahamian Rum Runners, our brand combines a passion for mixology, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to carry on a family legacy.
Tyree’s journey began with a realization that the crafting of spirits and the bootlegging culture had always flowed through his veins. After years of fighting to launch this innovative liquor brand, the vision of Smuggler’s Rhum came to life. Inspired by the infamous Rum Runners who smuggled alcohol from the Bahamas throughout the Caribbean and the United States, we pay homage to their audacity and watertight operations during the prohibition era, also known as “The Dry Decade.” These daring entrepreneurs even sold the legendary and delectable street drink called “Nutcrackers.”
In 2015, the history of the Nutcracker drink sparked Tyree’s vision to introduce a newer, better, and more accessible version of this iconic beverage to the world. After years of refining our distilling techniques, experimenting with flavors, and perfecting our recipe, our exquisite rumbullion is ready to savor and enjoy. Tyree and his team are thrilled to share Smugglers Rhum with rum enthusiasts across the globe, bringing our unique vision and flavors to a whole new level.
